Canned pump

A canned motor pump (also known as a shielded pump) is a special type of leak-free centrifugal pump widely used in applications with extremely stringent sealing requirements. Its design features an integrated pump and motor, with the motor rotor and stator completely isolated by a thin metal sleeve (the “can”), ensuring the fluid does not come into contact with any external seals.

Features

Can pumps offer several significant advantages due to their unique design:

Zero Leakage: This is the most important feature of can pumps. With no dynamic sealing points, zero-leakage delivery of toxic, harmful, flammable, explosive, or valuable media is ensured, greatly improving safety and environmental friendliness.

Low Noise and Vibration: The pump and motor are integrated into a robust pressure housing without external couplings, resulting in very smooth and quiet operation, suitable for environments with stringent noise requirements.

Compact Structure and Small Footprint: The integrated design reduces external parts (such as bases, couplings, and seal flushing systems), making the pump compact and saving installation space.

No External Lubrication Required: The motor bearings are lubricated by the transported medium itself, eliminating the need for complex and expensive external sealing systems and lubrication maintenance.

Low Maintenance Costs: The elimination of the most wear-prone mechanical shaft seal component reduces the time and cost of routine maintenance and downtime repairs.

Wide Application Range: Capable of handling high-temperature, low-temperature, high-pressure, and corrosive media, it is widely used in petrochemical, nuclear, pharmaceutical, and refrigeration industries.
