Slurry Pump

How Impellers Drive Performance in Centrifugal Slurry Pumps

Centrifugal slurry pumps are also known as slurry, mud, or case pumps. Impellers give sludge kinetic energy in centrifugal slurry pumps. Industrial slurry pumps transfer thick, acidic liquids.   There are many uses for both vertical slurry pumps and horizontal slurry pumps.

Duplex steel, abrasion and corrosion-resistant cast iron, and white cast iron resistant to abrasion are used in slurry pumps. Furthermore, worn parts are easily rebuildable. Only the worn parts of the centrifugal slurry pump may be replaced after a specific length of time. Replacing parts are kept in stock by top slurry pump manufacturers.

A mixture of liquid and solid materials, slurry results in abrasion, viscosity, and corrosion. You can utilize a variety of materials, such as compost, sludge, mine concentrates, tailings, coal, pulp, ore, sand and gravel, lime, and ammonium nitrate. The mixture is a liquid-solid combination. The size of the slurry particles, which can vary from one micron to several hundred millimeters, is connected with the performance of slurry pumps. The slurry is effectively controlled by slurry pumps intended for submerged application.

Mining, mineral processing, coal preparation, chemical processing, wastewater treatment, and dredging all require slurry pumps. Submersible slurry pumps and horizontal slurry pumps must be modified to meet their requirements. Slurry pumps from reliable manufacturers can handle corrosive and abrasive slurries effectively, economically, and long-lastingly.

Applications

Centrifugal slurry pumps are used in the industrial field to transport fluids with high concentrations of solids, characterized by high abrasiveness, viscosity, and corrosiveness. Slurry pumps are applied in mining, ore dressing, quarrying, metallurgy, fertilizer, and other scenarios requiring the transportation of abrasive and corrosive fluids.

Slurry pumps are divided into four types: horizontal slurry pump, vertical slurry pump, submersible slurry pump, and submerged slurry pump. These types of pumps differ in their appearance, usage position, and space occupation. The horizontal slurry pump is easy to dismantle and repair. In comparison to the vertical slurry pump, the horizontal slurry pump occupies a larger space and has a more powerful capacity. The vertical slurry pump’s small footprint allows it to be applied in more complex environments, although maintenance and repair can be more challenging.

The submersible slurry pump is a vertical, axial suction, single-stage, single-suction, centrifugal pump structure. It is mainly applied in the coal preparation plant’s sump pump, the power plant’s ash and slag pit pump, and the flue gas desulfurization pit pump, and other industrial and mining systems.

The submerged slurry pump is completely immersed in the slurry and can work at different temperatures and pressures. It can be used for dredging and dewatering high-sand abrasive slurries in quarrying and mining plants.

The installation methods for slurry pumps include wet installation, dry installation, and semi-dry installation. Wet installation involves the pump body and driver being fully immersed in the liquid; dry installation means the driver and bearings will not come into contact with any slurry, and most horizontal slurry pumps are installed in this way. Semi-dry installation is used for sand and gravel dredging. In this installation method, only the driver remains dry, so the bearings require very strict sealing devices.

  • The size, shape, and hardness of solid particles in the fluid
  • Selection of slurry pump production materials based on the viscosity, abrasiveness, and corrosiveness of the slurry
  • The flow rate, head, and power of the slurry pump
  • The application environment’s characteristics and conditions

Kaiquan Pump Group Co., Ltd. is a professional manufacturer of slurry pumps. We have five major production bases in China. The centrifugal slurry pump is produced at Kaiquan’s impurity pump factory in Shijiazhuang. We have a complete set of equipment for slurry pump production, including the casting of slurry pump impellers and pump casings and the manufacturing of pump shafts.

KZJ series single-stage, horizontal centrifugal slurry pump

KXZ series slurry pump is a new generation of high-efficiency and energy-saving slurry pump independently developed by Kaiquan Group. It adopts advanced two-phase flow theory design internationally.

KZJL series submersible slurry pump is a vertical, axial suction, single-stage, single-suction, centrifugal pump structure, characterized by high efficiency, reasonable structure, high reliability, ease of maintenance, and low operating and maintenance costs.

KZJXL series submersible slurry pump is a new type of lightweight submersible slurry pump carefully developed by our company based on the KZJL series pump. This series pump is a vertical single-stage, single-suction cantilever centrifugal pump structure. The impeller is a semi-open impeller with stirring blades at the extension of the impeller suction edge, facilitating the transport of large-particle viscous liquids.

KD/KDT series single-shell slurry pump is a new generation lightweight slurry pump developed by Shanghai Kaiquan Pump Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. The series pump adopts a single-shell structure design, making the pump more compact, lightweight, and easier to maintain. It combines the advantages of domestic and foreign similar products in hydraulic model design, structural design, and the use of wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant materials. All performance indicators exceed industry standards.

KYLZ and KZJG filter press feeding pumps are specially designed slurry pumps developed and designed for filter presses. This series pump is divided into single-stage single-suction and two-stage single-suction structures.

KYLZ is of two-stage type, adopting a single-shell structure design for a more compact and lightweight pump.

KZJG is of single-stage type, adopting a double-shell structure design for reliable, smooth operation, and easy maintenance. KS(R) and KSH series slurry pumps are single-stage single-suction cantilever horizontal centrifugal pumps, suitable for industrial sectors such as metallurgy, mining, coal, power, construction materials, and others to transport liquids containing suspended solid particles. It can handle highly abrasive, high-concentration slurries such as concentrates, tailings, ash, slag, cement, soil, gravel, and other hard, abrasive, high-concentration slurries. The temperature of the solid-liquid mixture being transported generally does not exceed 80°C, and the weight concentration can reach 60%.
